Daniel H. Ahn, Voyager Capital
Dan focuses on Internet, infrastructure, clean IT, wireless, and core technology areas. He has extensive experience in venture capital investing, portfolio company management, and technology entrepreneurship. In addition to Placecast, he serves on the boards of AutoGrid, Coulomb Technologies, and Vidder for Voyager. Prior to Voyager, Dan was a partner and managing director at Woodside Fund, an early-stage venture capital firm, for nine years. At Woodside, he has led the firm's investing in core technology and infrastructure companies, and led the creation, development, and investment in numerous successful companies, including companies such as Analogix and Berkeley Design. Prior to Woodside Fund, he was an associate at the Foster Management Company, a venture capital firm that invested in and consolidated fragmented service companies. Prior to that, Dan was the co-founder and president of a successful technology startup company, Endpoint Technologies, Inc., which developed and sold real-time manufacturing control systems for semiconductor device production. He was responsible for the company's product management, business development, and finance. The company was acquired by Applied Materials. Prior to that, Dan was with the venture capital group at CS First Boston, where he worked with information technology companies. Dan has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA, magna cum laude, from Harvard College. In addition to being a classical violinist, Dan enjoys outdoor activities and reading.
Terry Opdendyk, Onset Ventures
Terry has specialized in working with technology based start-ups for more than 40 years. He founded ONSET Ventures, a premier Silicon Valley venture capital firm, in 1984, where he is Managing Director and General Partner. Prior to launching the firm, Terry was president of VisiCorp, guiding the software publishing company from inception into an industry leader. Earlier, he worked as a technical manager for Hewlett-Packard as a part of the original group of individuals that started HP's computer business. He later headed Intel Corporation's microcomputer systems business, microprocessor architecture activities, several international ventures and human resources. At ONSET Ventures, Terry maintains a broad spectrum of investment interests including software, computing and communications infrastructure and the leverage of big data. One of Terry's passions is teaching. He works with students each year focusing on the fundamentals of building successful businesses. He is a Fellow at the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Haas School of Business, University of California where he has taught the Venture Capital and Private Equity class for the past ten years. Terry received a B.S. from the Michigan State University Honors College and a M.S. from Stanford University.
Prior to Diamondhead Ventures, Raman worked at Stanford University for 16 years in various roles, including Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Raman also served on advisory boards of many global technology companies. During his Stanford tenure, Raman was actively involved with many high technology start-ups as an angel investor, advisor, and board member.
Rich has served on company boards as a director (Blue Lithium [sold to Yahoo!], Web Clients [sold to ValueClick], x+1 and Associated Content [sold to Yahoo!]), provided advisory services to large and small online advertising companies (Google, AOL, Blue Lithium, Glam) and personally invested in promising online advertising startups (Ad Relevance [sold to Nielsen NetRatings], Grouper/Crackle [sold to Sony] and Blue Lithium). He has long been a supporter and evangelist to help grow the industry, and was the founding Chairman of the IAB, the Future of Advertising Stakeholders (FAST), and the SF Bay Area Interactive Group (SFBIG) and has served on the board of the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF), the Advertising Education Foundation (AEF), and the advisory board of ad:tech. He received the IAB's Lifetime Achievement Award (2004), was inducted into Advertising Age's Interactive Hall of Fame (2000), and was recognized by USAToday as "the Johnny Appleseed of Online Advertising" (1998).
